NOCTRA / USER AGREEMENT

User Agreement.

Scope and permission to use

This agreement applies to the Noctra app and its features. Read it alongside the Privacy Policy. Using the app does not replace separate authorization required for data sharing or purchases.

You may install and use Noctra within the applicable software license. Copies obtained through the App Store remain subject to the software license and store transaction rules applicable to that distribution. This page does not itself change an existing license or limit statutory consumer rights.

02

Media sources and access rights

Noctra lets you browse and play media you are entitled to access. You can connect Emby, Jellyfin, Plex, SMB, WebDAV, or local folders supported by your version. The app does not include a library of media sources. Playback, download, and cache features do not grant rights to the underlying content.

Make sure you have permission to access, play, and save the content, and follow the source service’s rules. A working server account does not necessarily authorize copying, downloading, or redistributing everything available through it.

Films, subtitles, danmaku, artwork, and metadata come from their respective sources. Do not use Noctra to infringe another person’s copyright, privacy, or other lawful rights.

03

Accounts, addresses, and keys

Accounts for media servers, Trakt, custom APIs, and other services are managed by their respective providers. Connect only accounts you are entitled to use. Keep server addresses, access tokens, and API keys secure, and keep playback links containing credentials off public pages.

To revoke access, withdraw authorization or change credentials at the relevant service. Removing a connection from Noctra does not close the remote account or ensure that a previously issued token has been revoked.

Before enabling iCloud sync, review which items and devices are involved. Connection details on other devices and cloud copies may need to be managed separately.

04

Optional services and content sharing

Online metadata, subtitles, danmaku, sync, and AI features connect to the relevant services when you use them. Those services have their own data practices, charges, and availability. The Privacy Policy describes what is sent.

Custom AI is off by default. Saving an API key does not authorize sending media content. Sharing subtitle text or audio segments requires separate confirmation for the endpoint, model, and data type. An endpoint or model change requires new consent.

Revoking consent stops future requests but does not delete information a provider has already received. This agreement does not replace those separate permissions. AI recognition and translation may contain errors; check subtitles that you need to quote accurately.

05

Rules for use

Follow applicable law and the rules of services you connect to. Do not bypass another person’s access controls, impersonate an account holder, distribute malicious files, or use feedback or community services to harass others.

Download, cache, or export only content you are entitled to handle. Copying, modification, and redistribution of the app or its components are governed by the applicable software licenses. This page does not restrict actions expressly permitted by law or an open-source license.

If you lack the legal capacity to accept the relevant terms independently, a parent or guardian should help decide whether you may use the app and manage media sources and system content restrictions.

06

Free first release and future paid features

Noctra 1.0 is free at its first App Store release. The features provided in this version require no purchase or subscription. This is not limited to TestFlight testing, and using these features does not create a subscription or charge.

If a future version introduces paid features, their scope, price, duration, and renewal conditions will be shown before purchase, with purchase confirmation through the App Store. Free first-release access will not automatically convert to a paid subscription. Viewing a page or continuing to use the app does not authorize a charge.

If your Apple Account already has a valid Noctra purchase or subscription, the App Store continues to manage that transaction. Free access to this version does not automatically cancel an existing subscription. To stop renewal, cancel in your App Store account settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Refund requests follow Apple’s process and applicable rules.

Free access to the current version is not a Lifetime Pro purchase entitlement and does not grant an unreleased paid plan. Unreleased platform apps or features are subject to what is actually released.

Connected third-party services may charge separately and set their own prices, availability, and rules. Noctra’s free access does not change access rights to third-party accounts or content.

07

Stopping use and deleting data

You may stop using Noctra, remove media connections, revoke third-party authorization, and use the available controls to clear local records and caches. Removing a connection does not delete media on the server. Clearing caches does not delete all user data.

After uninstalling the app, Keychain credentials, system backups, iCloud data, or copies held by other services may remain. Disabling sync or revoking AI consent does not automatically erase data already stored by third parties. Use the relevant service’s data controls.

Submitted feedback is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. To request early deletion, send the reference number through in-app feedback. Stopping use of the app does not itself send a deletion request to the feedback service.

If you have an active App Store subscription, uninstalling Noctra, removing a server, or stopping use does not cancel it. Cancel renewal in your App Store account settings.

09

Compatibility, faults, and responsibility

Playback depends on the file encoding, network, server, device, and selected playback engine. Updates may change features or compatibility. Keep separate copies of important media and files; a player cache should not be your only backup.

If you encounter a fault, send the steps to reproduce it, the file format, and the error message so we can investigate. A third-party provider handles changes to its availability, quotas, or content. This does not remove the developer’s legal responsibilities for Noctra itself.

This agreement does not limit statutory consumer rights or exclude liability that the law requires us to accept. You may first contact support to discuss a dispute, while retaining your right to complain or pursue other legal remedies.

10

Updates and contact

Updates to this agreement will be dated. A change that materially affects existing users’ rights or obligations will be explained in a website notice or an in-app message before it applies. Where renewed consent is required by law, it will be requested separately. Changes to personal-information handling will also be reflected in the Privacy Policy.

For questions about use, licensing, or copyright, open Noctra → Settings → Feedback and identify the version, page, or material involved. Keep your reference number after submitting. Do not attach unrelated private files or account keys.
